AP Limited Editions Urushi Lacquer Art Fountain Pen – Blue Bliss

The Blue Bliss fountain pen from AP Limited Editions evokes tranquility, balance, and the meditative beauty of the natural world. Inspired by the clear expanse of sky and sea, it embodies serenity through layers of lustrous blue urushi lacquer—each one hand-applied and polished to a luminous depth.

Crafted in Japan by skilled urushi artisans, the Blue Bliss undergoes a traditional multi-layer lacquering process that demands time, precision, and patience. Each layer must cure and harden before the next is applied, resulting in a surface alive with light and texture. The final effect is ethereal—soft gradations of blue that seem to shift like sunlight rippling across calm water.

Beneath its artistry lies the precision of fine engineering. A 14-karat gold nib paired with a plastic feed ensures an effortlessly smooth, expressive writing experience. Designed for both beauty and balance, the Blue Bliss offers a harmony between traditional craftsmanship and modern performance.

Limited in production, this piece captures the essence of AP Limited Editions’ philosophy: to create writing instruments that bridge the material and the spiritual, the timeless and the present.

Materials and care

  • Avoid direct exposure to sunlight or strong UV light. Urushi lacquer is sensitive to prolonged sun exposure and may dull or become brittle over time.
  • Store the pen in a stable, indoor environment avoiding extremes of heat, cold or humidity. A relative humidity around 70–80 % and moderate temperature preserves lacquer integrity.
  • Clean the exterior gently using a soft, dry microfiber cloth. If necessary, you may lightly moisten the cloth with clean water; avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents as they can damage the lacquer finish.
  • Do not soak the pen or use an ultrasonic cleaning device on the lacquered surface—moisture and agitation can cause delamination or surface irregularities.
  • While in use or storage, avoid impact or dropping the pen, and remove any sweat, salt or harsh chemicals from contact with the pen body — these may etch the surface or alter the finish over time.
  • With proper care, your urushi-finished pen is not just a writing instrument—it is a heirloom object designed to retain its beauty and performance across decades.
