AP Limited Editions Urushi Lacquer Art Fountain Pen – Amorphous Splendour (Blue)

The Amorphous Splendour (Blue) from AP Limited Editions is a meditation on fluidity, transformation, and the serene depth of color. Inspired by the graceful movement of water and the quiet stillness of reflection, this piece reveals the living spirit of urushi through rich layers of blue lacquer.

Each pen is handcrafted in Japan by master artisans who apply and polish multiple coats of natural urushi to achieve extraordinary translucence and depth. The resulting surface captures a sense of organic motion—its hues shifting between indigo, sapphire, and midnight as light plays across the form. The composition feels both calm and alive, as though the pen itself contains a ripple of captured energy.

Fitted with a precision-tuned 14-karat gold nib and plastic feed, the Amorphous Splendour (Blue) delivers a writing experience as fluid as its design. Its balanced proportions and smooth lacquered finish invite daily use, while its artistry ensures enduring admiration among collectors.

Limited in production, this fountain pen embodies AP Limited Editions’ devotion to traditional Japanese craftsmanship and the timeless beauty of urushi art.

Materials and care

  • Avoid direct exposure to sunlight or strong UV light. Urushi lacquer is sensitive to prolonged sun exposure and may dull or become brittle over time.
  • Store the pen in a stable, indoor environment avoiding extremes of heat, cold or humidity. A relative humidity around 70–80 % and moderate temperature preserves lacquer integrity.
  • Clean the exterior gently using a soft, dry microfiber cloth. If necessary, you may lightly moisten the cloth with clean water; avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents as they can damage the lacquer finish.
  • Do not soak the pen or use an ultrasonic cleaning device on the lacquered surface—moisture and agitation can cause delamination or surface irregularities.
  • While in use or storage, avoid impact or dropping the pen, and remove any sweat, salt or harsh chemicals from contact with the pen body — these may etch the surface or alter the finish over time.
  • With proper care, your urushi-finished pen is not just a writing instrument—it is a heirloom object designed to retain its beauty and performance across decades.
