AP Limited Editions Sakura Lacquer Art Fountain Pen - Snowflakes Blue
AP Limited Editions Sakura Lacquer Art Fountain Pen – Snowflakes Blue
The Snowflakes Blue fountain pen from AP Limited Editions’ Sakura Lacquer Art Collection captures the delicate and transient beauty of falling snow. Handcrafted by Japanese maki-e and urushi artisans, this exquisite piece translates the serenity of winter into a work of luminous elegance.
Each pen is built upon a deep blue urushi foundation—layered, cured, and polished by hand to achieve a glass-like sheen. Over this, fine silver and white accents are meticulously applied to depict drifting snowflakes, each one unique in form and placement. The interplay of light across the lacquered surface creates the illusion of gentle motion, as though the snow continues to fall even when the pen is still.
Fitted with a responsive 14-karat gold nib and plastic feed, the Snowflakes Blue offers a smooth and expressive writing experience. Its carefully balanced proportions and tactile warmth speak to both function and artistry.
Limited in production, this piece embodies the poetic spirit of Japanese craftsmanship—celebrating impermanence, purity, and the quiet moments of reflection found within nature.

Materials and care
Materials and care
- Avoid direct exposure to sunlight or strong UV light. Urushi lacquer is sensitive to prolonged sun exposure and may dull or become brittle over time.
- Store the pen in a stable, indoor environment avoiding extremes of heat, cold or humidity. A relative humidity around 70–80 % and moderate temperature preserves lacquer integrity.
- Clean the exterior gently using a soft, dry microfiber cloth. If necessary, you may lightly moisten the cloth with clean water; avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents as they can damage the lacquer finish.
- Do not soak the pen or use an ultrasonic cleaning device on the lacquered surface—moisture and agitation can cause delamination or surface irregularities.
- While in use or storage, avoid impact or dropping the pen, and remove any sweat, salt or harsh chemicals from contact with the pen body — these may etch the surface or alter the finish over time.
- With proper care, your urushi-finished pen is not just a writing instrument—it is a heirloom object designed to retain its beauty and performance across decades.
